Updated for 2022
So, you are getting married! You’ve got someone to marry and you’ve booked the venue… But now what? Here are my top picks of the best wedding suppliers, Cambridge.
I am so fortunate that I get to attend some truly gorgeous weddings and I get to work with the top wedding suppliers, Cambridge.
So I decided to put together my A List of wedding suppliers to help you plan your special day.
Book one, book all but at the very least do book a meeting with them to discuss your plans and let them show you what makes these suppliers different and why you should have them on your side.
Please note: I have only added these suppliers because I have worked with them on multiple occasions and I’ve seen their dedication and skill first hand.
None of the wedding suppliers on this list have paid to be included – You can read about why this is so important on my latest blog post, here.
Wedding Cake
Regency Cakes are unusual in the wedding industry as they are one of the very few wedding cake bakeries that have a premisses that you can visit and view their amazing display of wedding cakes. They deliver and set up and are quite simply, a very professional company.
Caterers
I’m lucky enough to attend quite a few weddings catered by Portfolio Events. Their food is always outstanding, always looks amazing and their team are so professional. You can tell a lot about wedding suppliers by the venues that recommend them, and the way they treat their team and other suppliers, which is why you’ll see Portfolio Events at some of the best venues in the area, like Longstowe and Lanwades Hall, amongst others.
Wedding Hair and Make-up
Fiona at stylishbridalhair.co.uk Now I have to admit that I’ve worked with Fiona many times before, not only with my wedding clients but also for my editorial clients… And she happens to be my ‘long suffering’ wife too. Bt I am recommending her purely on her professionalism, and her calming approach, ensuring your day starts stress free.
And I also always recommend this amazing make-up artists. Cambridge Make-up Artist. Kerry is a true professional and also has such a calming manner.
She also has a huge team behind her, perfect for larger bridal parties. Kerry’s absolute devotion and professionalism is something I aspire too.
Groom’s formal wear
Cadge & Co. 9 The Pavement, St Ives, Cambridgeshire, PE27 5AD
T: 01480 462194
These people know the business and have the latest styles in every possible size/combination.
I see Chimney’s at the Newmarket Wedding Show as they exhibit opposite me, and their exhibits are stacked full of the kind of clothes I would wear. Always modern, always classy and they are always there for advice.
Wedding Entertainment
Wow, this is such a subjective category, so I have added the people that produce thee most amazing reactions guests’ faces.
Wedding Magician
I class Wayne as one of my best friends, but I am recommending him not only because of his insane magic tricks, but because of the effort he puts into weddings shows and because of the reactions and the memories created at the weddings he attends. Kids love him, grown-ups are amazed at his magic… and your guests will remember him.
Wedding Band
Swagger are a five piece function band who know how to get the party rolling. They read the room and their sets produce thee most epic dance photos ever.
The more I get to see these guys, the more I love them. They are enthusiastic, they always give more that what’s expected and they are just the nicest guys (I saw Matt at my last wedding jamming with some guests during his break).
Wedding Florists
I have two recommendations here. When I walk into a a venue, and it smells of flowers, I know that it’s either Heidi or Sally that have done the flowers.
Both these florist produce thee most fragrant, stylish flowers for weddings. And their bouquets are absolutely magnificent.
Wedding Venue décor and chair décor/covers
I’ve worked with Lucie lots of times and I can see why she is trusted by so many venues and brides. She is the ‘go to’ venue decor company for so many high end wedding venues in Cambridgeshire. Her professionalism is outstanding and with a huge stock of constantly evolving designs and decorations, your wedding will be a unique as you. You need this lady on your team.
Wedding Photographers
If I were getting married (again), I’d choose Neil Laver or Scott Gilbert to photograph my day.
You need a photographer that works with you and will get on with your family and friends throughout your celebrations as well as take stunning images. Which is why I would recommend either of these two photographers.
Neil Laver Wedding Photography
I’m a slightly weird wedding photographer and I hardly ever follow any other photographers on my Instagram account, but I do follow these two.
Wedding Videographers / wedding film makers
I completely recommend either of these two super talented wedding film makers. If I shot video, I could only dream of being this good.
Stephen Shepperson at Shepperson Films
Richard Knight, White Dress Films.
I have to add one more videographer here… as I’ve just started working with Ed (at the time of writing – 4 weddings and counting). And he is another brilliant videographer. Contact Ed at Ed Bray Films.
Wedding Venues
Still stuck for a venue? Visit my blog for some venue inspiration or view my venue page, or call me and let me tell you where my favourite venues are. And if you are still stuck on for a wedding venue, or would like to know if I have photographed at a specific venue, then just drop e an email.
I hope you’ve found this article useful, but if I have missed anyone out or you’d like a further recommendation, then please do let me know. I’ll only ever recommend a supplier that I’ve worked with several times and one that I’d have at my wedding.
