Destination wedding adventures

Your destination wedding photographer

Destination weddings… And why I love them

Our wedding was just how we’d always dreamt off, it was at our home in the Cambridgeshire countryside, our friends and family mingled in the garden that Fiona had created.

But in all honesty Fiona and I kind really wanted a destination wedding.

And if we’d gone for the destination wedding option, it would have been in a tiny white church, with a picketed fence, on the beach in Captiva Island in Florida.

So my absolute admiration goes out to those that decide to have a destination wedding.  And although ANY wedding is exciting, a destination wedding becomes an event, with family and friends having to travel, the language barrier that sometimes occur, but the payoff is a wedding that is truly different and completely memorable (if slightly more expensive for all involved).

But being a destination wedding photographer does hold a different set of challenges, and it really isn’t as easy as just topping up at the wedding venue on the day expecting to photograph.

So if you are planning a destination wedding, and you are bringing a photographer of your choice to cover your event, then there are things you must be aware off.

Firstly, your destination wedding photographer MUSTS be insured, not just the normal insurance, but also have cover to undertake weddings abroad.

Secondly, your destination wedding photographer must be allowed to work in the country you are holding your wedding in… And it’s up to your destination wedding photographer to ensure they are eligible to work abroad, it’s not down to you (you have enough on your plate).

Thirdly, if your wedding photographer hasn’t photographed at your destination previously, then they should arrive early enough to scout.

I travel a lot – so I thought I’d add my travel plans here, just in case I could tempt you meet me there and have a wedding!
